Valtteri Bottas is happy that Williams took a risk when it came to strategy for the Malaysia Grand Prix.
Bottas was one of only two drivers to do make one stop, the other being Jolyon Palmer. He took a set of medium compound tyres 29 laps into the race before being fitted with a set of hard compound tyres until the end.
"All the cars around had more pace in the beginning, on the Soft tyre," said Bottas. "But we knew that after a few laps it would equal out and then we would have the advantage, having the opportunity to make a longer stint and possibly try to make a one-stop work.!
"I'm pleased we could make it work; it was a bit risky, but 100 per cent worth it. It was important for us to get those points."
Williams are currently locked in a constructors' championship battle with Force India but despite Bottas finishing the race ahead of both rival cars, Force India increase their lead over Williams in the standings.
"It was very unlucky with Felipe, as we could have done it with both cars maybe," he said, "so we'll try in Japan, but it is going to be very good fight with Force India, and today I really enjoyed it."
