Lewis Hamilton was once again top of the charts during second practice in Brazil.

The reigning champion's time of One minute 12.271 seconds narrowly beat team mate Nico Rosberg, who was three hundredths of a second behind.

Williams were surprisingly high up the table with Valtteri Bottas in third and Felipe Massa in fourth - his highest practice placing of the season in what is his final home Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo beat Max Vertappen in the other red Bull to the final top five spot, while Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg, and Jenson button rounded out the top 10. Button's session was cut short due to a gearbox problem in what was a tough session for McLaren.

11th placed Fernando Alonso's session reached a premature end after a cooling problem on his ERS threatened to cause a more serous problem. He was able to make light of the situation, recreating his famous deckchair pose from last year's Brazilian Grand Prix practice as he watched the remainder of the session from the side of the track.

Daniil Kvyat was 12th fastest, ahead of Carlos Sainz who was involved in an incident with Raikkonen which saw the Ferrari driver cut across him as he entered the pits. The incident is set to be investigated by the stewards in due course.

Sergio Perez was 14th fastest ahead of the 2017 Haas duo of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, while Felipe Nasr was 17th, ahead of Esteban Ocon, Jolyon Palmer, Esteban Gutierrez, Marcus Ericsson, who spun early in the session, ruining his tyres; and Pascal Wehrlein.
