Hamilton on pole for Australian GP

Lewis Hamilton will start tomorrow's Australian Grand Prix from pole position as the Brit set a blistering lap time of 1:22.188. The Merc was almost three tenths faster than the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, who sits in second, while Valtteri Bottas lines up in third.

After months of speculation, it seems that Mercedes have found a match as the top three were covered by just under three tenths. Kimi Raikkonen is fourth, quite a bit further back from the top three.

Max Verstappen lines up fifth for Red Bull in what was a disappointing result, as Daniel Ricciardo crashed out in Q3 in front of his home crowd.

The Haas of Romain Grosjean impressed and places itself sixth on the grid, he's ahead of the Felipe Massa, and the two Toro Rosso's with Carlos Sainz outqualifying Daniil Kvyat. Daniel Ricciardo will start the race from tenth.

Sergio Perez will lead the outside top ten runners in eleventh, followed by Nico Hulkenberg. McLaren will be encouraged by Fernando Alonso's pace, as he lines up thirteenth. Esteban Ocon placed his Force India fourteenth, while Sauber will be happy lining up in P15 in the shape of Marcus Ericsson

Antonio Giovinazzi will line up sixteenth after he was drafted in to replace Pascal Wehrlein for the rest of the weekend. Kevin Magnussen is seventeenth with Stoffel Vandoorne filling out the penultimate row. Completing the grid is Lance Stroll and Jolyon Palmer
