Lewis Hamilton was quickest after free practice two at Monza as he set a 1 minute 22.801.
Hamilton was faster than his team-mate Nico Rosberg by two tenths of a second. Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen followed the two Mercedes, a lot closer than they were at the end of free practice one with Vettel four and a half tenths behind Hamilton.
The two by two format continued as the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo finished in fifth and sixth respectively. Fernando Alonso was the surprise of the field as his McLaren finished in seventh.
Valtteri Bottas was eight and the final two drivers in the top 10 were Romain Grosjean and the other McLaren of Jenson Button.
Strangely, all three tyre compunds seemed to be working at similar pace meaning teams will need to tweak set-ups to exploit the full potential of the super-soft tyre for qualifying.
