Daniel Ricciardo not down about missed win

Daniel Ricciardo insisted he was not disappointed to miss out on victory in the Singapore Grand Prix, despite coming within touching distance of race winner Nico Rosberg on the final lap.

Ricciardo had hoped to challenge for the race victory but a great start from Nico Rosberg, followed by an almost-instant safety car period left the Mercedes driver difficult to catch until the closing stages of the race.

"We have come close on numerous occasions but I am not disappointed. We gave it a shot, we got with half a second. It was close," he said. "As soon as did a pit stop we thought Nico would come in. I pushed hard on the tyres."

Ricciardo had narrowed the gap to 0.4 seconds by the final lap but traffic and word tyres for the Australian left him unable to make the leap to first.
