Daniel Riccardo said he was pleased with his second place in qualifying, depite missing out on pole position.
The Red Bull driver is expected to mount a challenge for the race win tomorrow but today he was unable to get close to Nico Rosberg's stellar pole position time.
Despite that, the Australian is happy to be starting on the front row tomorrow.
"Pleased enough, the aim was to try and be on the front row," Ricciardo said. "We knew it would be hard to try and get in front of the Mercedes. It was nice to at least get one."
"We made improvements for qualifying. Through practice we were still trying to find some stuff with the car and it finally came good in qualifying, got better. The rhythm throughout the session was good," he added. "We qualified on the super-soft in Q2 so we’ll start the race on that tire. Obviously we feel it’s a good thing, we’ll see if it makes a difference tomorrow."
"The last lap in Q3, it was clean, probably wasn’t as good as Nico’s but it was clean and good enough for the front row."
