Nico Rosberg said that his pole position lap for Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix was one of the best of his career.
The Mercedes driver took top spot ahead of Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo after being unchallenged at the top in the final part of qualifying.
"That was one of my top three laps ever - and I'm so happy that it came on my 200th GP weekend," he said after taking the 29th pole position of his career, which equals the record of five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio.
Going into this weekend, many saw it as an opportunity for Red Bull and Ferrari to challenge Mercedes given the German marque's struggles at the track last year, but despite that, it was a Mercedes that claimed pole position.
However, right behind Rosberg is Daniel Ricciardo, dubbed by many as the pre-race favourite. Despite, Rosberg isn't concerned about the prospect of starting alongside the Australian.
"I'm not worried," insisted Rosberg. "But I'll certainly be keeping my eye on him."
