Nico Rosberg fastest in FP1 in Monza

Mercedes' Nico Rosberg was fastest in the first free practice session at Monza after setting a 1 minute 22.959.

Rosberg's team-mate Lewis Hamilton was second, under half a tenth behind Rosberg. Third and fourth were the Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, an alarming one second behind the Mercedes.

Fifth was the Force India of Sergio Perez, followed by the Haas of Romain Grosjean who may not have expected to see his name in the top ten. Valtteri Bottas finished the session in seventh closely followed by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen.

The second Haas of Esteban Gutierrez was ninth and rounding out the top 10 was Austrailian Daniel Ricciardo.
