Lewis Hamilton said he was "happy" to win the German Grand Prix for Mercedes.
The British driver has won the race twice previously, triumphing for the Mercedes-powered McLaren team in 2008 and 2011 (at the Nurburging) but this was the first time he has won the manufacturer's home race driving for the works team
"I’m just so happy that I can be up here for Mercedes-Benz who I’ve been with since I was 13, so this is a very proud position for me to be in," he said after the race. "A big thank you to the team who did an amazing job."
Hamilton missed out on securing pole position yesterday after a mistake on his final qualifying attempt but today his performance was flawless.
"Today I didn’t make any mistakes, so in my heart I’m happy with what I did today," he said. "I came to do a job. Yesterday wasn’t perfect but you learn from those things."
“Today was really a show of looking at the glass half-full, and filling it up.”
