Eric Boullier: "What was promised has been delivered"

McLaren racing director Eric Boullier is positive that Honda's latest upgrades are a step in the right direction.

Honda brought upgrades to their power unit to the British Grand Prix and although both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button finished out the points, Boullier declared himself "satisfied" with the improvements.

"What was promised has been delivered," he said. "Now, we are still not on par with our rivals, we remain some way behind Mercedes. But at least we continue to notice improvements from Honda."

Despite having two world champion drivers in the team with a combined 47 race victories, Boullier insists neither driver is loosing motivation.

"We keep them in the loop. They know what’s happening, they know where we are, they know where we are headed. We don’t create wrong expectations," he said. "The drivers still have faith in the project, even more so when you set dates and promise performance packages and deliver on them. They know we are getting closer to the front and one day we’ll get there."

  • I've noticed improvements from Honda (the engine sounds much purer now), but have we seen any improvements from McLaren?

A combined 47 wins from both drivers? That's the same number that Hamilton has at the moment by himself! What a strange coincidence...
