Mercedes seems to have no competition in Bahrain, based on the times in first free practice. Nico Rosberg was the fastest with a 1:32.295, a half second in front of team mate Lewis Hamilton. Kimi Raikkonen was best of the rest with a gap of 1.8 second. Stoffel Vandoorne got acquainted with the McLaren MP4-31. The stand-in for Fernando Alonso ended up in 18th place.
