Williams reveals new livery for 2019 season

Williams has launched its brand new livery for the 2019 season with telecommunications company Rockit as its new title sponsor. The livery is mainly white with a blue tint surrounding it.

This year, Williams fields a brand new line-up of Robert Kubica and George Russell. Kubica returns to a full-time seat after he was forced to drop out of the 2011 season following a horrific rally accident that left him with life-threatening injuries.

Last year, Russell dominated the FIA Formula 2 championship and took the title. The Mercedes junior will compete in his maiden F1 season as Williams attempts to revive itself from the lows of 2018.

"We spent quite a lot of time on this livery,” admitted Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams. It was all done in-house, we have a very good creative team. I wanted a livery that told story about where Williams is and the future we think it has.

“Williams’ traditional colours are navy blue and white. But I wanted to move away from that. I wanted to show the world we are a fresh, revitalised brand.”

  • Not sure what to think of it yet. Doesn't feel Williams to me..

    • I'm really glad they got a title sponsor. But the livery itself is absolutely dreadful. Worst since Honda's earth car. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but it looked like painfully unimaginative. Like a PowerPoint template

    • I actually liked the Earth Honda livery, so I recon I might be a rare species on this planet. :) And it could be that this livery is prettier in real, but if not, this could potentially look boring at best, hideous at worst. Had they chosen Sky Blue or Williams Blue, it'd have made sense. This weird nuance, in combination with all that black and white, don't fit.

    • @calle let's be honest, you like anything with a Honda "H" on it :)

    • I do, and I don't hide that, but I did like the Earth livery regardless. I found it to be one of the more interesting liveries to date. :)

As far as I can see, it's the same basis as last year just with a different highlights.

  • Yeah, no. Not really impressed. I like the bottom half and the black to blue transition, but the top half looks more like the paint job I'd expect to see in a baby or toddlers room. It just kind of looks like two different ideas thrown together to try to make one that works, but it doesn't.

Happy they got themselves a title sponsor, not really impressed with the livery. Would have preferred a "Williams-blue" instead of this baby-blue, they should also get rid of the black bottom half.

I think that the bottom half may actually be worse than the blue highlight. It just doesn't complement too many colors. If it was ferrari red instead of light blue, it would still be bad. :/

  • Not very interesting. Looks incomplete. May be the dull combination of colors.
