Lewis Hamilton has admitted has was happy to just be on the podium after a tough weekend.
The reigning champion was outshone by team mate Nico Rosberg all weekend and faced a tough battle with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen for the final podium spot.
But the Brit was far from disappointed with his third place result, being satisfied to salvage a good finish to keep close to Rosberg in the championship fight.
"Definitely not [a great weekend] but firstly big congratulations to Nico - he drove fantastically all weekend" Hamilton said on the podium. "This weekend has been a tricky one for me but I'm just happy to get on the podium and get some points for the team."
Hamilton was one of several drivers to encounter brake problems during the race, and he says that was what caused him to slow, allowing Raikkonen to initially get by.
"The brakes were way overheating so I had to slow down. Once I did my second or third stop we managed to sort it out,"he said.
Hamilton was later able to re-pass the Ferrari in the final round of pit stops after coming in one lap earlier than the 2007 world champion.
Speaking of the championship fight, Hamilton admitted that the situation is different to a year ago when he left Singapore with a clearer championship lead, but he insists the fight is far from over.
"It's a lot different to when I was here last year but I'm still in the fight and I'm going to give it everything I've got," he said.
