Force India has taken the blame for the incident that cost Sergio Perez a chance of scoring points in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Perez was enjoying a good race before he came in for a pit stop, only to be greeted by the sight of no mechanics ready to service his car,
"The first stint was very strong; we were on plan to complete it and then we went on to mediums," said Perez. "But they were sliding around and I couldn't manage it well to make them work, so we decided we had a nice window to stop."
"They called me in, but when I stopped there were no tires so we lost a lot of time. It's annoying... Probably more than ninth place was available for us, but it's how it is sometimes."
There was no apparent radio issue which caused the incident, but Force India's deputy team principal Bob Fernley admitted that the message from the pit wall had not made it's way to the pit crew.
"It was a miscommunication on the pitwall," Fernley said. "It was our fault, nothing to do with him. We made a mistake. We missed a call on the pitwall picking it up in the procedures."
