Lewis Hamilton wins at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix after finishing seven seconds ahead of his team-mate Nico Rosberg.

After a torrential downpour came minutes before the start of the race, teams were forced to switch to the extreme wet tyres and the race begun under the safety car.

Max Verstappen claimed his third career podium and once again out raced his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo who finished in fourth. Kimi Raikkonen finished in fifth. Force India claimed a double points position as their drivers came home sixth and seventh respectively.

Rosberg is due to be investigated after a radio message telling him how to fix his gearbox was given to him.

  • I wonder why Mercedes now face so many reliability problems. It strikes me as odd, since they've been one of the most reliable packages in the hybrid era. Apart from Ferrari and Mercedes, close to all other teams seem to have gotten way more reliable compared to last year. And this race has also convinced me even more that we need to let the drivers get help from their teams in desperate situations. Its ridiculous how Force India in Austria dropped so many places, and how Hamilton lost so much time in Baku while troubleshooting. A radio clampdown under those circumstances does not contribute to the show, quite the opposite.

That aside, Hamilton won this race fair and square, though I doubt it'll help him very much. 1 more turbo failure and he'll begin to take penalties.

    • I think the reliability problems are due to the fact Mercedes pushes it's engines more and more to stay in front. In my opinion their chassis isn't the best on the grid. So they compensate that with engine power. The other teams are catching up and Mercedes' main answer seems to be to push their engine...
