McLaren driver
Lewis Hamilton posted the best time in the first free practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix. His team mate
Jenson Button had to settle for ninth, with an oil leak at the end. There was lots of action in this session because of a big threat of rain for the second practice.
Sebastian Vettel took second place, the gap to Hamilton was five tenths.
Narain Karthikeyan stopped on track with a hydraulic problem. Both
Sauber drivers complained about the handling of the C31.
Sergio Perez even called the car undriveable.
