“Eighth is good. It was about saving fuel at the end,” the 36-year-old revealed.
Jenson Button was pleased to finish in the points at the German Grand Prix, his fifth top 10 finish of the year.
Button qualified in 12th position but was able to finish ahead of the likes of William;'s Valtteri Bottas and the Force India of Sergio Perez.
"A lot of work, but I was able to pick off the Williams who were struggling with the tyres," Button said of his impressive performance. "It is as good as we could have done, but we were 20 seconds behind the car in front."
The German Grand Prix was the last race before Formula One's traditional summer break, something Button is definitely looking forward to.
"I’m looking forward to a holiday. I can sit on a beach lounger and drink a beer and not be feeling guilty," he said. "We are making progress, the team is doing a fantastic job, bringing something new each race and I’m sure there is not another team doing that."

Surprisingly good race for McLaren, especially since they didnt expect points this race. Look forward to their next upgrade.
