Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg set the fastest time in first free practice for the Grand Prix of China, but that was no talking point after the first session at Shanghai circuit. All attention went tot he exploding rear tyres at Felipe Massa (twice) and Kevin Magnussen. Tyre supplier Pirelli said that investigation on Williams failures show no sign of puncture. "Air loss connected to technical trouble." Magnussen's problems seem to be caused by debris on track. Esteban Gutierrez suffered electrical problems, while Nico Rosberg was told there was a possible engine problem.
