Romain Grosjean has been disqualified from the Italian Grand Prix after the FIA found his car not to be in compliance with regulations. Grosjean crossed the line in 6th place on Sunday to pick up eight points for himself and the Haas team.

However, those points have been stripped and Grosjean has been officially disqualified from the race classification. Following the race at Monza, Renault announced that it had lodged a formal complaint against the team and its car.

A statement from the stewards read: "The reference plane of car number 08 is found not to be in compliance with Article 3.7.1 d) and the clarifications given in TD/033-18 published on 25 July 2018. The surface formed by all parts lying on the reference plane must have a 50mm radius (+/-2mm) on each front corner when viewed from directly beneath the car, this being applied after the surface has been defined."

Prior to the disqualification, Haas moved into fourth place in the constructor's standings. However, it is now reset to fifth place ten points behind Renault, the team that instigated the investigation to the VF-18.

It also promotes Sergey Sirotkin up into the points, meaning the Russian driver scores for the first time in his F1 career. Esteban Ocon, Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll have been pushed up to 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th respectively.

Force India now overtakes Toro Rosso for seventh in the constructor's championship, despite just taking part in its second race as the Racing Point Force India entry.

Why only Grosjean and not Magnussen? I think they drive both the same car and setup ?!

    • Same car, but not necessarily setup. Its possible that they ran different very different setups, even possible that they ran Gro with an intentional at best grayzone setup to test the limits.

  • Its a saving one's face move from Renault. They should ( and might)very well know, Haas can't be pinned to 5th for long.
