Lewis Hamilton rules out Alonso as teammate

Lewis Hamilton says he will never again be paired with a driver like Fernando Alonso. The Briton made his F1 debut over a decade ago alongside then reigning world champion Alonso at McLaren.

"That will never happen," he told Stuttgarter Zeitung about the prospect of teaming up with Alonso again. "Toto (Wolff) understands how the dynamics of a team works and compares it to a magnet. When two north poles meet, they repeal one another, so you need a north and a south pole. Two north poles results in negative energy, like in 2007 with Alonso and me," Hamilton added. (GMM)

  • Of course he does. He isnt stupid. He has control in Mercedes now. He wont let another driver challenge him again if he can help it.

  • Says the guy who has never claimed to be the #1 driver... Pairing Lewis and Fernando would be the most exciting thing happening in Formula 1 for a while, but I understand why Mercedes wouldn't want that.

Says a lot about Bottas' status..... Yet if I were him, I still think I'd rather be a south pole at Mercedes than a north pole at say Williams.

Though I reckon Mercedes should move Bottas back to Williams whilst a seat is still available and then buy out Ricciardo's contract and put him in the car in '18...... Shake Hamilton up I say!!

......Perhaps Kubica is in the frame at Williams as he would be a good one season option, thus making room for Bottas back at Williams and freeing up a seat at Mercedes for '19.
