Romain Grosjean is confident he will be racing for Haas next season, despite there being no confirmation of his return.
The Franco-Swiss driver recently bought a new house, with many taking that as an indication that he will be remaining in F1, but the former Renault and Lotus driver admits there is nothing to announce yet.
"If I saw 100 per cent (sure), it will mean I have something to announce," he smiled. "So let's say somewhere between 91 and 99 per cent!"
Team boss Gunther Steiner appeared to hint that Grosjean would be remaining with the American team, telling reporters: "I think he will continue to be able to pay for his house."
It is thought that delay in announcing Grosjean is so they can secure a driver for the second seat.
Esteban Gutierrez currently fills that seat, but he has struggled to get points on the board so far this season.
"We need a driver who can score points immediately," Steiner said after ruling out Ferrari junior Charles Leclerc.
"Let's see," Steiner said when asked about Gutierrez. "A few races ago, we said we were prepared to wait for some time. In Singapore, he did a good job and the problems at the start were not his fault. So we'll see how he will go in Malaysia."
Gutierrez has been criticised this season for his driving in traffic and for ignoring blue flags, but Gutierrez is undeterred by the criticism.
"It is clear that he has never driven an F1 car," Gutierrez is quoted by France's Auto Hebdo, when asked about Toto Wolff's comments at the recent SIngapore Grand Prix. "But I don't see it as a danger to my reputation."
"I think it is the contrary, because it gives me publicity, so I should thank him," he added.
