Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he is aware of the danger Red Bull now pose.
After enduring a difficult season last year, Red Bull have been the only team other than Mercedes to win a race this year and were their closest challengers at the British Grand Prix last weekend.
"We knew they [Red Bull] would be fast," Hamilton said. "Going into the race I think they said we had half-a-second of pace or something, potentially, [over] Red Bull.
"Whether or not it was half-a-second I don't know, but we definitely had pace against them," he continued. "Max [Verstappen] drove a fantastic race and is continuing to show he's a force to be reckoned with."
Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff was equally impressed with Verstappen
"His racecraft is spectacular, and with the way he positions the car," he said. "You can see if he has a good car underneath him, he is able to put up a great fight."
