FP1: Mercedes gaps the field by over a second

Lewis Hamilton put his Mercedes on top during the first free practice session in Montreal. The championship leader was almost half a second quicker than teammate Nico Rosberg. More impressive was the gap to number three Romain Grosjean; 1,5 seconds.

Grosjean and Hülkenberg were the suprises of the session, with a third and fourth position in the standings. Daniil Kvyat was the quickest Renault driver on P7, while Alonso was the fastest McLaren with the ninth time of the session.
