Very handy to see this list, hope f1today keeps with updates through the season. What stands out, Honda already into 2nd power units and alone in that respect. Two engines each in two races! Maybe they bought good upgrades to Bahrain but penalties looming closer. Even so H Marko still cannot resist having a dig at McLaren. Renault in RB were never as near as woeful as Honda in McClaren yet the outpouring against Renault was far more vociferous.

    • Yup, Honda did bring some, increasing power and reliability. It is concerning, but there is far more to this season than just using up all allocations; its also about when you can afford taking penalties to get extra parts. And those who do take extra parts get to take more upgrades, which might be beneficial in the long run for tracks they are better at. I dont expect STR to do well in Baku or Canada, two prime opportunities to take upgrades, lose points chances they might never have had anyway, and profit for races like Monaco, Spain, Singapore or Japan (although we'll have to see how they will take the 120R corner at Suzuka this year...).

Article 23.3 a) of the 2018 Sporting Regulations, states: “Unless he drives for more than one team, each driver may use no more than 3 engines (ICE), 3 motor generator units-heat (MGU-H), 3 turbochargers (TC), 2 energy stores (ES), 2 control electronics (CE) and 2 motor generator units-kinetic (MGU-K).
Ric and Bot on second ES.

Mercedes has confirmed that it has installed a new energy store and control electronics into Valtteri Bottas' car as a precaution. The Finn exited qualifying on Saturday in tremendous fashion, wrecking his W09 against the barrier at Turn 2.

Toto Wolff confirmed following the session that the car would need a new gearbox, which resulted in a five-place grid penalty. And this morning, the Silver Arrows validated that new parts had been installed in the power unit as a precaution.

Mercedes tweeted: "We’ve made a precautionary change to the Energy Store and CE on Valtteri Bottas’ car, as we’d like to run some checks back home in the UK to ensure there’s no damage to them. If all clear, then we’ll use them again!"

With revised technical regulations regarding power units coming into play this year, each driver is allowed to use two energy stores and two control electronics before being handed a grid penalty.

    • Ah, thats right. So this list isnt really up to date then. But I wonder if that will be a problem later on? I mean, if there is something wrong with those first components, Bottas will be using only 2 for the rest of the season, not a very optimal situation, even if you are in a Merc'.
