The 2018 Formula 1 season kicks off later today, and it was Lewis Hamilton who stormed his way to pole position on Saturday. The Briton set a stellar lap in the final part of qualifying, to go over half a second faster than the rest of the field.
"It was tricky," the 33-year-old acknowledged. "That last lap for me was definitely the best of this weekend and I’m very, very happy with that lap. It was one my best. With the results we’ve had, you would think it’s the norm, but it’s just as intense. My heart is racing."
Ferrari will have a lot to answer to in the race after being left with egg on its face following qualifying. There will also be observations about where Red Bull lie in the pecking order, while the battle between Haas, Renault and Mclaren looks excitingly close.
