Lance Stroll is looking forward to working alongside Felipe Massa at Williams next year. Stroll, who will be the only rookie on the field next season will be partnered by one of the most experienced drivers in Brazilian Massa.
Stroll enters F1 off the back of dominating the Formula Three European championship and thinks that Massa is a very well respected driver in the paddock.
"Yeah I really am looking forward to Felipe being a mentor for me. Of course we're competitors and we want to beat each other but at the same time he has a lot of respect as a driver. We know he is very well respected throughout the paddock, a really nice guy and a team player.
"That's all you ask for being in a team, you ask for a team player that will help the team go forward and not create a problem on both sides of the garage.I think it's very important to have two drivers who want to push the team in the right direction and not fight against each other."
Stroll says that despite wanting to beat each other the main interest will be helping the team improve next season, as they slumped to fifth in the constructor standings in 2016 after a season long battle with Force India.
"It's always good to have that competitiveness in the team, that urge to want to beat the driver next to you, but at the same time we are going to respect each other, we're going to want the best for the team and we're going to help the team in the best way possible."
