Felipe Nasr has admitted that he is in discussions with other teams in the Formula One paddock as Sauber's financial difficulties continue, but admits that staying at Sauber is still a possibility as a buyout or rescue of the struggling Swiss outfit.
Nasr, backed by Sauber's most visible sponsor Banco do Brasil, has been with the team since 2015 but despite scoring 27 points last season, including a remarkable fifth place on his début in Australia, he has yet to finish in the top ten this season.
"My manager is talking to teams, seeing the options, so we'll see," the 23-year-old admitted. "But with this change in Sauber, staying here has become a possibility because I know everybody and I have my place."
" It's a big change," he said. "Everything that is happening is very positive and an extra motivation for everyone in a moment that seemed to have no more light at the end of the tunnel."
Despite his trying year and Sauber's plight, Nasr believes the team have performed well in the circumstances.
"Strictly speaking, this car is almost the 2015 machine," he said, "so to almost score points, as we have in the last three races, is only possible because everyone is working hard."
