Perez to announce 2019 plans before Singapore

Sergio Perez says that he is hoping to announce his plans for 2019 before the Singapore Grand Prix in two weeks. The Mexican confirmed during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend that he had signed a contract for next year, but didn't give any indication of who it was with.

The 28-year-old is expected to stay at Force India, however his name has been linked to a seat at Haas. He was also on McLaren's shortlist before it announced that it would promote Lando Norris to partner Carlis Sainz next year.

When asked at Monza about when he would be revealing how his future will shape up, the former Sauber and McLaren driver said: "I hope that I can be in a position to announce my plans by Singapore and stop with these questions.”

During the summer break, Force India was taken over by a consortium of investors, led by Lawrence Stroll. Sergio Perez held a key role in saving the team, as he was one of the parties that initiated the Silverstone squad into administration.

Perez says that he is happy that the team has been saved, and wouldn't mind being paired up with Lawrence's son Lance, who currently races for Williams: “I think Lawrence has come here obviously to find a great place for his son but at the same time he’s investing a lot of money, he wants the team to be successful so that means both drivers.

“I do believe in the project. I know the people I’ve worked with everyone here for five years. I wouldn’t be comfortable if I didn’t know the people and so on. I know how competitive this team is. I know Lawrence. the plan he has to make this team great and make this investment worth the value. I have no problems with him.”
