Raikkonen could switch to WRC in 2019

With Kimi Raikkonen being in his last year of his current contract with Ferrari, the immediate future of the Finn is very unknown. Although he made several hints regarding another one year contract extension with Ferrari, he is also wanted in the World Rally Championship by the works Toyota Gazoo Racing world rally team.

Tomi Makinen and Mia Miettinen, the two Toyota Gazoo Racing key people, were spotted on Raikkonen's yacht during the Monaco Grand Prix free practices. In a brief statement, Mia Miettinen, Toyota Gazoo Racing team deputy, talked about a possible switch for Raikkonen in 2019.

"Kimi could be a Toyota driver, but first he has to decide if he will continue his career with Ferrari." Miettinen said. Raikkonen competed in the World Rally Championship between 2009 and 2011 with a relative success. The Finn made his F1 comeback in 2012 around the defunct Lotus F1 Team.

Recent rumors are suggesting that either Charles Leclerc or Daniel Ricciardo will replace Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. Both drivers are strongly linked with a possible to the Italian team for the 2019 Formula 1 season.

Long overdue, time go Kimi. I am also quite certain he will be clearly happier anywhere else. No more dealing with the sport he hates so much but clings to for dear life. He can go to a more laid back category like WRC.

    He shouldn't have came back.
Since his comeback he only managed to tarnish his reputation of a cool champion.
