Ericsson looking forward to "spectacular" Bahrain

Sauber's Marcus Ericsson is hoping for a change is race fortunes this weekend in Bahrain as the Swede has struggled so far in the 2017 season. Despite escaping Q1 in both Australia and China, he has failed to come near the points after a retirement in Melbourne and an off the pace drive in Shanghai.

Speaking about his race in China, he said the tricky weather conditions did not suit his car, causing him to drop backwards in the race.

"The conditions were tricky as well as the asphalt temperatures being relatively low, which made it difficult to get the tyres to work,” said Ericsson, "Overall, I struggled with the tyres during the whole race – I never really got them into the right working window."

Ericsson says that despite the fact that Bahrain is quite a challenging circuit, he enjoys travelling there to compete.

“The track, as well as the surroundings, have a special vibe under the floodlights. It is a spectacular race weekend that I enjoy a lot. Overall the circuit is technical and driving-wise not an easy one, but I always looking forward to racing there."

Ericsson will be joined in Bahrain by Pascal Wehrlein who missed the opening two rounds of the world championship due to a back injury suffered in January.
