Esteban Gutierrez has stressed that he is "bored" with finishing in 11th place.
The Mexican driver has finished one spot away from the points places on no fewer than five occasions so far.
Despite the frustration, he does believe that it proves that points cannot be too far away.
"It's boring to finish P11," he told Autosport. "I don't know how many more I've got in the system, but this consistency shows that we are very close to the points."
"We have to keep fighting, keep motivated."
Gutierrez's Haas team brought new upgrades to last weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, and the ex-Sauber man feels that the team failed to make the most of them.
"It wasn't easy [in Singapore] to find our way with the upgrades, so we can focus on that, try to optimise our parts," he said.
"I hope to come back to Malaysia with a better view and better preparation to try to extract more from the upgrade."
