Nico Rosberg is hoping to return to the Singapore podium this weekend after an eight year absence.
As a Williams driver, the second-generation driver finished the inaugural night race in second place, an there was later talk of him inheriting his first win a year later amid the 'Crashgate' controversy which saw Fernando Alonso take the win.
Rosberg has since won 21 races and finished second in the championship for the last two years, but he years for a return to the podium in the city state this weekend.
"Now my focus is on Singapore - a race that's been up and down for me," he told Crash.net. "I got my second ever podium there way back in 2008 but haven't been up there again since, so the target is to change that on Sunday."
"Of course, it won't be easy. This is a Red Bull track and we weren't so strong there last year. But I have faith in the team and my belief in myself is as high as ever," he added. "I approach each weekend aiming to win the race. The points gap has gone up and down but I've taken it one race at a time - and that's the best way for me, as you can see by how the gap is now."
Besides his 2008 podium, Rosberg's best finish in Singapore is fourth in 2013 and 2015.
