Sergio Perez has admitted that his backers may try to engineer a move away from Force India at the end of 2016.
Team boss Vijay Mallya has said both Nico Hulkenberg and Perez are under contract for 2017, but the Mexican has been linked with moves to Renault or Williams.
When asked ifleaving Force India was a possibility, Perez replied: "Yes."
"It's up to me and the group of sponsors," he said. "If we're moving around teams, we take the decision together with the group of sponsors that I have and that decision has not been taken."
Perez, who has been on the podium twice so far this season, is often a factor in the driver market due to his strong performances on track and his strong backing, something he says makes any deal for him different.
"My deals are not so simple as I have a lot of sponsors that have to do deals and so it takes longer," he admitted.
