Pascal Wehrlein encouraged by practice performance

Pascal Wehrlein was in a positive mood after practice yesterday, after finishing second practice ahead of the Sauber of Felipe Nasr and Renault's Jolyon Palmer.

The young German finished FP1 at the bottom of the charts but made a big step forward in second practice.

He now hopes that improvement will bode well for the rest of the weekend.

"At the end, I was quite happy; we made some progress today. To begin with, my fastest lap time was on the soft tyres, so the lap time wasn’t representative, but in second practice we were on the same strategy as everyone else and we aren’t far off the guys around us, so it’s a good sign," he said. "I hope we can improve for tomorrow. I really want to deliver a good job overall this weekend."
