Jenson Button has said that he does not expect McLaren to win races in 2017.
While team mate Alonso has said that the team should challenge for the championship next year, Button remains unconvinced that the team can turn around their fortunes so dramatically.
"We have made progress," he told Auto Motor und Sport in Hungary. "But you always want more."
"None of us are happy about where we are. We want to win," he continued. "We simply don't have the best car, we're working on it, but whether we can fight at the top next year remains open."
Button's future is currently up in the air with his contract due to expire at the end of the current season and test driver Stoffel Vandoorne waiting for a chance of a full-time race seat.
The 2009 champion has been linked with Williams for next year, and he admitted in Hungary that a change of scenery is a possibility.
"Every driver here thinks about his position and whether there is a possibility in the future to win," he said. "If not, you have to go somewhere else."

Another reason to keep Button: he is one of few honest souls in that garage.
