Haas F1 Team will wait until after September's Italian Grand Prix before making a decision on the 2017 driver lineup according to team principal Guenther Steiner.
Former Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has had a strong season for the team so far, scoring 28 points while team mate Esteban Gutierrez has yet to score this season, with three 11th place finishes his best results.
Despite his drivers' contrasting seasons, Steiner has said the team needs to evaluate their drivers before making a decision on whether they will stay on for the team's second season.
"We agreed between us that we don’t really want to talk about drivers before the European season is over because we need to see what we’ve got," said Steiner.
"I think now even to evaluate Esteban wouldn’t be fair because he had a few races where the circumstances didn’t help him; an accident, the car broke down," he continued. "We don’t put pressure onto anybody and if you start to speak to people, speculation starts, people get insecure and you don’t get the best out of the drivers."
Steiner insisted the team was in no rush to make a decision, but hinted that they would keep the same driver lineup, saying that teams "normally don’t try to do anything radical".
"We want to see what happens after Monza, then we’ll see," he said. "We’re in no hurry, we know what we can do, we know we are safe for next year, so we don’t have to panic or anything."
"When you’re confident in what you’re doing, you normally don’t try to do anything radical."
