Sebastian Vettel has driven the fastest time in the final free practice session ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. The German drove his time when the track was still dry, and therefore remained fastest when the rain hit the track. Lewis Hamilton ended the session in second, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.
Many drivers made mistakes on the slippery wet race track. Carlos Sainz, Nico Hulkenberg and Sebastian Vettel had small offs, but all of them could resume their session. Behind the top-3, Sergio Perez ended up fourth, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Felipe Massa. Valtteri Bottas ended in seventh, ahead of Max Verstappen, who seemed to like the rainy conditions.
The Lotus-duo of Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean rounded the top ten. Fernando Alonso was hit with troubles once again. The Spaniard had to stop his car at the straight, while already having a twenty place grid penalty for the race.
