As part of a charity campaign, Sauber F1 Team drivers Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez will be contesting the Monaco Grand Prix wearing special helmets designed by world-renowned Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto. Adrian Sutil's helmet already came under the gavel during the Gabrielle's Gala charity event in London on 7 May, while Esteban Gutiérrez' headgear is set to be auctioned online at charitybuzz.com. The auction will run from Monday, 26 May, and will close on June 11.
This initiative is a joint campaign by Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, the Sauber F1 Team and Romero Britto. Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez had no hesitation in donating their helmets for the cause. The initiative is one of several joint activities planned by Gabrielle's Angel Foundation and the Sauber F1 Team.
Monisha Kaltenborn comments: "We entered our partnership with Gabrielle's Angel Foundation at the beginning of the year because we strongly feel that the organisation is making a major contribution to cancer research. We are proud to be able to offer a platform that will reach a broader public. For me the design of the helmets is very unusual and highly attractive, and of course I hope that they will raise as much money as possible for the foundation."
"The Sauber F1 Team has brought worldwide exposure to the work and missions of our Foundation. The need to find a cure for cancer is universal – it has touched everyone's lives, and we are extremely grateful to the Sauber F1 Team, Romero Britto, Adrian and Esteban for their dedication in funding a cure," said Denise Rich, President and Founder of Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.
