Button Predicts World Championship: “Norris Is in Top Form”

Jenson Button believes Lando Norris is on track to become world champion, predicting that the McLaren driver will carry his current form into next season. The 2009 world champion says Norris has reached a new level in both driving and race management, making him one of the strongest all-round performers on the grid.

Norris leads the standings thanks to a consistent run of podiums, strong qualifying sessions and calm, decisive racecraft. His momentum has impressed many in the paddock, including Button, who has been following the title fight closely.

Although Max Verstappen remains a major threat, Button thinks Norris is the man with the clearest upward trajectory.

“He Is Driving Better Than Ever”

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Button praised Norris' growth throughout the season. “Lando is driving better than ever. He is fast, he is confident and he is making very few mistakes. You can see that he feels at one with the car.”

Button says that kind of form is what defines a champion. “When a driver reaches that point where everything feels natural, they become incredibly hard to beat. Lando is in that zone right now.”

McLaren Key to Norris’ Success

Button emphasised that McLaren's progress is equally crucial. The team has brought a steady stream of upgrades, boosting performance on both fast circuits and high-downforce tracks. “McLaren is giving him a car that works everywhere. That consistency is massive when you are fighting for a title.”

Button also highlighted the internal dynamic between Norris and Piastri. “Oscar pushes him in a healthy way. They raise the level of the team together. It reminds me of strong line-ups from the past.”

What About Verstappen?

Button acknowledged that Verstappen is still capable of turning the fight around. “You can never rule out Max. His race in Brazil was incredible. If Red Bull finds form again, he will be right there.”

However, Button believes Norris has the clearest pathway to the championship if McLaren maintains its current performance level. “Right now, everything is flowing for Lando. If that continues into next year, he will be the favourite.”

With the title fight entering its final stages, Button says he is enjoying watching two generations battle for supremacy. “It is great for Formula 1. Fans are getting exactly the kind of championship they hoped for.”
