Lewis Hamilton continues to struggle in his first season with Ferrari. The seven-time world champion has yet to score a podium for the Scuderia and currently sits sixth in the standings. According to F1 analyst Ted Kravitz, Ferrari must replace Hamilton sooner rather than later.
Rumours surrounding Hamilton’s future have intensified in recent weeks, especially with Oliver Bearman’s rising form. The Haas driver has scored 24 points over the last four races, while Hamilton collected 27 over the same stretch. The question within the paddock is whether Ferrari sees Bearman as Hamilton’s long-term successor.
“It’s Already Clear”
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The F1 Show, Ted Kravitz said he sees Ferrari’s next move as obvious. “It is as clear as day that Ollie Bearman will eventually replace Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari. I think that’s completely obvious. Whether Charles Leclerc stays long-term is a very different question.”
Kravitz argues that Ferrari has followed this pattern before. “It’s the Ferrari way — they did it with Charles Leclerc too. They lend their juniors to Sauber, Haas, or another engine customer, and then bring them back into the works team. Haas insists they have Bearman contracted for 2026, so I think Ferrari will simply let Hamilton see out his deal and then decide whether Bearman gets the seat.”
Charles Leclerc made his Formula 1 debut in 2018 with Sauber. The Monegasque had already taken part in free practice sessions for both Haas and Sauber in 2016 and 2017. After one year at Sauber, he replaced Kimi Räikkönen at Ferrari, where he has raced ever since.
Bearman Already Has Ferrari Experience
Bearman has already had a taste of racing for Ferrari. Last year, the British Haas driver was called up at the last minute to replace Carlos Sainz, who suffered appendicitis. Bearman
qualified eleventh and finished seventh in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, scoring his first points on debut.
