Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are heading into the most crucial phase of their Formula 1 careers. With just four races remaining in the 2025 season, the world championship battle is finely poised between the two McLaren drivers and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
McLaren leads the way, but Verstappen closes in
McLaren has established itself as the team to beat this year. The Woking-based outfit secured its second consecutive constructors’ title with ease, thanks to a consistently dominant car. However, Red Bull Racing has been mounting a late-season comeback. A series of key upgrades to the RB21 have allowed Verstappen to close the gap and rejoin the title fight.

Focused but calm approach from McLaren’s duo
Ahead of the decisive run-in, both Norris and Piastri reflected on their mindset during a visit to McLaren’s factory. “In general, nothing has really changed,” Piastri told Motorsport.com. “If you look at the progress we’ve made since the start of 2024, we always believed we could fight for both championships. Of course, the pressure is higher now, but our approach stays the same — extract everything from every weekend.”
Norris, however, admitted he has made slight adjustments to his preparation. “In the end, it’s pretty simple: every weekend you go in aiming to score as many points as possible,” he explained. “What’s good for me is good for the team, and vice versa. That’s how we keep it straightforward and stay focused.”
Brazil could swing the title fight again
The upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos could once again shake up the championship order. Norris currently leads the standings after taking a dominant victory in Mexico, just one point ahead of his teammate Piastri. Yet, with rain in the forecast, Verstappen could have a golden opportunity to strike back.
Last season, the Dutchman famously won at Interlagos after starting from P17 in wet conditions, a reminder that anything can happen at this circuit. As the tension builds, McLaren’s young duo will need composure, teamwork, and consistency to fend off the reigning champion’s charge.
