Verstappen unveils new white helmet for 2019

Max Verstappen has released his helmet for the 2019 season, which largely consists of white. The Dutchman has traditionally run with Red Bull's blue, red and yellow colours since he started in Formula 1 four years ago.

Verstappen enters the new season as the most experienced Red Bull driver, as Daniel Ricciardo left to join Renault for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Verstappen will be joined by Frenchman Pierre Gasly at the team, who competed in his first full season of F1 last year.

Verstappen also regularly used a different coloured helmet during the past seasons. At the Belgian Grands Prix in 2017 and 2018, he used a complete orange helmet. During the Grands Prix of Austria, Verstappen showed his appreciation for sponsor Jumbo by having a part of his helmet in yellow.

Red Bull will compete this year with Honda as its engine supplier, ending its long-standing relationship with Renault. Verstappen says that initial drives on the simulator have given him positive vibes heading into the season.

"I have only driven the new car on the simulator so far, but it feels positive," he told the Dutch publication Formule 1. "Obviously you don't know what the other teams have, so it's about waiting. It's also exciting, but that really only comes when I'm in the car. You never know what to really expect beforehand.

"I do not think we can immediately compete with Ferrari and Mercedes in terms of power, but Honda is doing everything it can to get there as fast as possible," he added to his official website official website verstappen.nl.

"We are going to try to win as many races as possible. If that is the case, you can eventually also go for the championship. It's all difficult to guess at the moment, but hopefully it is positive."

Judging by the investments of almost all F1 teams we could be heading for an competitive 2019 season. There are some teams that have big potential.

Teams that I am very interested in seeing how they compare are Racing Point / Alfa Romeo and Renault. It would not surprise me if one or more than one could find themselves in podium or race winning positions. I do however not class mcLaren/Williams to one of these since their last year base seems to be further behind. Nonetheless there will be surprises and if Honda can provide an decent package than that will lift Redbull into WC area and Toro Rosso between 4-5 placed team.
