Esteban Ocon says that he is not worried about his future in Formula 1, despite losing out on a seat at Renault. Ocon was poised to join the French squad for the 2019 season, before it announced its shock deal with Daniel Ricciardo.
Ocon is unlikely to stay with Force India next season as Lance Stroll looks set to take his seat. Stroll's father, Lawrence, led a consortium over the summer break to take the team out of administration and save the jobs of over 400 men and women.

It puts Ocon's seat in danger, as his current teammate Sergio Perez brings financial backing to the team. Despite missing out on an attractive seat with Renault, he claims that the shut door was not a surprise to him.
"It was not a shock. We had possibilities there. In the end, it has passed and we have to move forward,” Ocon said in Belgium. “I wish Daniel and Renault the best. He’s a good guy and I like him so I wish him the best.”
Ocon has emerged as a leading contender to take up the second seat at McLaren. The Woking outfit already confirmed that Carlos Sainz would be Fernando Alonso's replacement next year, and it is currently evaluating who it will place alongside him.
"I’m not worried, my management and Mercedes have been taking the right choices in the past years and I’m sure they will be able to do the same again,” he stated. “I have the full support from Toto, from Mercedes, from my management, they are fully working on next year, on all the opportunities possible. There are rumours in different places but we will see.”
As for a deal with McLaren, he said: “I don’t know if I’ll be moving to McLaren, I don’t know if I’ll be moving from here,” he replied when asked about the ongoing speculation. At the moment, these are just rumours. We’ll see. What is important is to always perform on track. If it’s a possibility, why not? If it’s a possibility to stay here, I would be happy as well.”
