McLaren boss Zak Brown has said that the team are considering a return to a papaya orange livery for next season. McLaren have not run with the classic livery in F1 since 1971 after years of livery dictated by the will of the teams title sponsors such as Marlboro, West and Vodafone.
However without a title sponsor since the departure of Vodafone at the end of the 2013 season the team has been free to choose any livery they want and have used a predominantly black design since 2015. However with the addition of a large papaya orange segment this year as well as Fernando Alonso's orange Indy 500 car, it has seen many speculate a return to full orange is on the horizon.

Zak Brown said this on the matter of next years livery: "We are now starting to deal with the design and I believe the fans would like to see our formula one cars in the classic papaya orange, when we did the Indycar, a lot of fans responded by asking us to paint the F1 cars like that as well.
"But we need to just wait for a few sponsor decisions, which can affect how the cars look. But in general I do not rule out that colour, We have a lot of space on the car for our partners, and I expect to welcome some new ones next year.
"But it's not so much a matter of finding a title sponsor, because its value in formula one is relatively low compared to other series like Nascar. We are thinking more about a model of having a few big partners, and we should have that for next year."

Agreed, its a bygone. Keep this livery, or do something similar. A metallic orange, like the one the P1 has, could be pretty cool.
