Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he will be wearing his Indy 500 helmet at the 2017 US Grand Prix. Earlier this year, the double world champion skipped the Monaco Grand Prix to instead contest in the famous Indianapolis 500 race.
The Spaniard was in contention for victory before his Honda engine gave up in the latter stages of the race. Alonso has vowed to return to the event in order to emerge as its victor, as he aims to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport - Monaco GP, Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Alonso's helmet was coloured black, with red, yellow and blue stripes running around it. This weekend, Austin hosts the seventeenth round of the 2017 F1 world championship, and Alonso has decided to wear the helmet throughout the weekend.
