Marko not denying Toro Rosso-Honda switch rumours

As Formula 1 enters the summer break, rumour surrounds Red Bull Racing's sister team, Toro Rosso, with regard to its engine supplier for 2018. Currently the Italian team use Renault engines but have been linked to Honda power for next season.

Toro Rosso was linked with a switch to Honda power last month, and although Christian Horner refused to comment on the rumour, negotiations have supposedly taken place, with De Helmut Marko reportedly meeting with officials from Honda earlier this week as the Japanese engine supplier sets its sights on a replacement deal following its quick breakup with Sauber.

Masashi Yamamoto of Honda confirmed that "We are talking to other teams to see if there is any chance of reaching an agreement to supply them," when speaking to Spain's Diario AS. It is believed that talks will continue until September when McLaren will make a decision regarding its engine supplier for next season, and if it will continue to use Honda power or switch to another rival supplier.

Responding to the rumour of this engine supplier switch for Toro Rosso, Dr Helmut Marko neither confirmed or denied the change at the midfield team.  "We'll see," he told Spain's El Confidencial newspaper.

Rumour also has it that Toro Rosso wants to relocate to England, but Marko denied the rumour quickly. "That's nonsense," he replied. "Why then would we have established a super factory in Faenza?"
