More car upgrades for McLaren in Monaco

McLaren will be bringing some new car parts to Monaco, in a bid to jump out of last place in the constructor standings. In Spain, the Woking based team brought their first major upgrade of the year, which aided Fernando Alonso to seventh place in qualifying.

The first five races of the season have been tough for McLaren and their drivers Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne. Racing director at McLaren Eric Boullier says that the Sapin upgrades are encouraging, and hopes that the next batch will see even more improvements.

"In Spain, we brought a new front wing, new bodywork, new floor, and new rear wing and it is correlating 95 percent. In Barcelona you could see that the speed of our car has improved, it is just a pity that we have no points scored."

Many are suggesting that Monaco will be McLaren's golden opportunity to score points in 2017, as it is the least power sensitive track on the calendar. They will be without leading driver Fernando Alonso who is in Indianapolis, contesting the Indy 500. Veteran Jenson Button will be back for the one race, racing around a track he has won before.

  • Very nice, and Monaco is a great chance for teams like Sauber and McLaren to score decent points. Both Renault and McLaren has showed decent quali pace, and that should help them here.

I feel like Im repeating this question very often, accidentally mimicing our old LP of Pippi Longstockings, which sadly broke, and stopped and looped on the phrase "used them as skates" every time it was played, but are there any news on upgrades from Honda?
