Racing Director at McLaren Eric Boullier is unsure whether or not Fernando Alonso will stay at the Woking based team after the 2017 season.
Alonso has previously stated that he will walk away from the sport if the 2017 car doesn't excite him, but also still remains in search of a third world title.

The third year of the McLaren-Honda partnership was one that was meant to show progress, after the marriage has suffered dearly since the formation in 2015.
Asked what the mood is like behind the scenes, team boss Boullier said: "There are ongoing discussions.
"We are all disappointed by these first tests because we could not do what we wanted. I do not know if Honda can give us the guarantees we ask for. But we absolutely need to see significant progress," he added.
The biggest problems appear to be coming from power unit supplier Honda, as during the first four days of testing, five engines were inserted into the McLaren.
"The oil tank is fixed, but what worries me now is the problem of the second day," Honda's Yusuke Hasegawa told the Spanish broadcaster Movistar. "It could affect the start of the season, but I hope not and that we can be reliable in Australia."
Boullier admits that he knows Alonso is not happy but makes the point that the Spaniard is still at the team for a third season, still believing in the cause.
"After six months everybody said it would be a tragedy with him, a mess, but in the third year, he is still here," Boullier smiled. "Of course he is not happy because he wants to fight to win. It is up to us to bring McLaren to the level it deserves."
Asked how he is managing to keep Alonso calm, the Frenchman answered: "By always telling the truth and avoiding wrong expectations. He knows the situation exactly."
As for whether Alonso will still be at McLaren-Honda in 2018, Boullier admitted: "I hope so, but I'm not sure. For sure Fernando is still at the top. The way he has prepared for this season is incredible. He is an example and an inspiration for many drivers."

He's still there because he is being handsomely paid, plus (apart from the Rosberg retirement) there haven't been any top seats available. That won't be the case in 2018, and he'll be gone.

I am pretty sure Alonso will be leaving McLaren after this season.

It depends on whether McLaren can produce a competitive car or not and whether Honda has managed to produce a competitive engine or not.
