Haas has been working on their 2017 car all season

Romain Grosjean has revealed that Haas have been working on their 2017 car throughout the year.

Haas began their time in Formula One impressively by finishing in the top six in both of the first two races, but their performance later slipped.

Grosjean, who joined the team after spending his entire career at Lotus (and its previous guise as Renault), has now revealed that the America team has in fact been planning ahead, rather than focussing on the current campaign.

"Our performance dropped this year because we didn't run the 2016 car much in the windtunnel this season," Grosjean is quoted by Autosport.

"That means that we have to run another car in the windtunnel, and that's to prepare for the future.

"When I joined the team, we wanted to be better in year two and better in year three, and that's still the plan.

"We've got a lot of work, but people have seen we're serious, we're focused, we're paying the bills and we are on the racetrack and not doing too bad.

"We've got more and more people joining, the team is growing and I think we can do better next year than we have this year."
