Renault have yet to decide who will race for them next season according to a team spokesman.
While Kevin Magnussen is expected to remain with the Anglo-French team, Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz, McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne, Renault and Mercedes test driver Esteban Ocon, and current race driver Jolyon Palmer have all been linked with the other seat.
"It's too early for us to start discussing what should happen next year,"said Renault's Andy Stobart. "We are more focused on this year and the rest of the season. We are only halfway, so it's too early."
"There is nothing definite on our part, and the rest is just speculation," he added.
While Mangussen's drive is all but secure, nothing has been officially been confirmed by the team which has an option to retain the services of the Dane next season.
However, BT's Peter Nygaard said that such contract clauses tend to expire around September.
"Normally these options are settled between September and October," he said. "If it gets later than that, Kevin ends up in the same situation he was in at McLaren.
"But I do think Renault is very concentrated on improving the team, including recruiting up to 100 people at Enstone, for next season. On top of that, there are a number of drivers who have not resolved their contractual situation," he added.
